Pattern Notes
- Worked from the toe up using a provisional cast-on or Judy's Magic Cast-On for a seamless toe.
- The pebble dash pattern is a simple 4-row repeat that creates a bumpy, non-slip texture.
- Adjust length by working more or fewer plain rounds before the heel.
Toe
Using MC and Judy's Magic Cast-On (or provisional cast-on), CO 12 (14, 16, 18) sts, divided evenly on two needles (6, 7, 8, 9 sts each).
- Round 1: K all sts.
- Round 2: *K1, M1L, K to last st on needle, M1R, K1; repeat from * on second needle. (4 sts increased)
- Repeat Round 2 every other round until you have 24 (28, 32, 36) sts total (12, 14, 16, 18 sts per needle).
Foot
Work even in Stockinette stitch (knit every round) for 1 (1.5, 2, 2.5) inches from toe.
Pebble Dash Pattern (worked in the round)
- Round 1 (CC): *K2, P2; repeat from * around.
- Round 2 (CC): *P2, K2; repeat from * around.
- Round 3 (MC): K all sts.
- Round 4 (MC): K all sts.
- Repeat these 4 rounds until the foot measures approximately 4 (5, 6, 7) inches from the toe, or 2 inches less than desired total foot length. End after a Round 4.
Heel
Work back and forth on half the stitches (12, 14, 16, 18 sts) for the heel flap. Place remaining sts on hold.
Heel Flap
- Row 1 (RS): *Sl1 wyif, K1; repeat from * to end.
- Row 2 (WS): Sl1 wyif, P to end.
- Repeat these 2 rows until flap measures 1.5 (2, 2.5, 3) inches, ending with a WS row.
Turn Heel
- Row 1 (RS): K 8 (9, 10, 11), SSK, K1, turn.
- Row 2 (WS): Sl1, P 3 (4, 5, 6), P2tog, P1, turn.
- Row 3: Sl1, K to 1 st before gap, SSK (across gap), K1, turn.
- Row 4: Sl1, P to 1 st before gap, P2tog (across gap), P1, turn.
- Repeat Rows 3-4 until all heel sts are worked. You will have 8 (10, 12, 14) sts remaining.
Gusset
With RS facing, pick up and knit 8 (10, 12, 14) sts along left side of heel flap. PM. Knit across instep sts (from holder). PM. Pick up and knit 8 (10, 12, 14) sts along right side of heel flap. Knit across half the heel sts (so needle is at center of heel). You now have 4 needles in use.
Decrease Round
- Needle 1: Knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
- Needle 2 (instep): Work in Pebble Dash pattern (continue pattern from where you left off, maintaining the 4-round repeat).
- Needle 3: K1, SSK, knit to end.
- Needle 4: Knit.
- Repeat decrease round every other round until you have 24 (28, 32, 36) sts total (12, 14, 16, 18 sts on instep and sole).
Leg
Work even in Pebble Dash pattern (continuing the 4-round repeat) for 2 (2.5, 3, 3.5) inches, or desired leg length. End after a Round 4.
Cuff
Switch to MC. Work K1, P1 ribbing for 1 inch. Bind off loosely in pattern.
Finishing
Weave in all ends. Block gently to shape. Repeat for second sock.
To Make Larger/Smaller
Adjust stitch counts proportionally. For a wider foot, add 4 sts to the toe increases. For a longer leg, work more rounds before the cuff.
