Elegant Textured Floral Lace Ankle Socks
These charming ankle socks combine a simple yet elegant floral lace pattern with a cozy base. Perfect for chilly evenings or as a unique gift!
Materials Needed:
- DK weight yarn (approximately 150 yards)
- Set of 4 double-pointed needles (size US 5)
- Stitch marker
- Yarn needle
Gauge:
20 sts x 28 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
Abbreviations:
- k = knit
- p = purl
- yo = yarn over
- k2tog = knit two together
Instructions:
Cuff:
- Cast on 48 stitches and distribute evenly across 4 needles.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist.
- Work in ribbing (k1, p1) for 1.5 inches.
Main Body:
- Switch to stockinette stitch, knitting every round until the piece measures 4 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Begin floral lace pattern:
Round 1: *k2, yo, k2tog; repeat from *. Round 2: Knit. Round 3: Repeat Round 1. Round 4: Knit.
Heel Flap:
- Work back and forth on 24 stitches for the heel flap using slip stitch pattern.
- Knit 1, slip 1 across 12 rows.
Turn Heel:
- Short rows to create the heel shape. Refer to standard short row method.
Foot:
- Pick up stitches along the sides of the heel flap and knit in the round.
- Continue until the foot measures 6 inches, finishing with the lace pattern.
Toe:
- Decrease for toe using k2tog until you reach 8 stitches.
- Graft stitches together using the Kitchener stitch.
Finishing:
