[dc, ch 1, dc] all worked into the same space. This creates a small, fan-like arch. The spaces between shells are what give the fabric its airy, open look.
Foundation Row
- With Color A (Sand), make a slip knot and chain 102. (Remember: The chain multiple is 6 + 3. If you want a wider or narrower wrap, adjust your chain accordingly. For example, chain 108 for a slightly wider wrap.)
- Row 1: In the 4th chain from your hook, work 2 double crochets (dc). This counts as your first shell (the chain 3 at the beginning counts as the first dc, and the 2 dc complete the shell).
- Continue Row 1: *Skip 2 chains. In the next chain, work a shell: [dc, ch 1, dc]. Repeat from * across the row.
- End Row 1: You should end with: skip 2 chains, then work 3 dc in the very last chain. This creates a solid edge. Turn your work.
Row 2: Building the Pattern
- Chain 3 (this counts as your first dc of the row).
- Work 2 dc in the ch-1 space of the first shell from the previous row. This creates your first shell of this row.
