Stars and Stripes Celebration Garland
Materials List
- Worsted weight yarn in Red, White, and Blue (approx. 150 yards each)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Optional: pom-poms for decoration
Gauge
4 stitches and 4 rows = 1 inch in single crochet.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- tr = triple crochet
- sp = space
Instructions
Pennant (Make 6)
- With Red yarn, ch 25.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (24 sc).
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Repeat Row 2 for 4 more rows.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Repeat with White yarn for 2 pennants.
- With Blue yarn, ch 25.
- Row 1: (Same as above) Sc 10, dc 4, sc 10 (24 total stitches).
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Repeat Row 2 for 5 rows. For the last row, add 5 tr evenly spaced to create star motifs.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Assembling the Garland
- Cut a length of White yarn, about 5 feet long for the hanging string.
- Using the tapestry needle, thread the yarn through the top of each pennant, alternating colors (Red, White, Blue, Red, White, Blue).
- Space the pennants evenly and secure with a knot at both ends to secure them in place.
- Optional: Attach small pom-poms to the top corners of each pennant for added flair!
