Rustic Jute Crochet Rug Pattern
Materials:
- Natural jute rope or yarn (approximately 500 yards)
- Crochet hook size N (10 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
Gauge is not critical for this project; however, approximate gauge is 4 sts = 4 inches in pattern.
Abbreviations:
- st - stitch
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
Instructions:
Base:
- Make a magic ring and secure with a slip knot.
- Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 sc into the ring. Tighten the ring and join with a slip stitch in the first sc. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join with a slip stitch in the first sc. (12 sts)
- Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch. (18 sts)
- Round 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a slip stitch. (24 sts)
- Continue to increase in this manner, adding one more single crochet between each increase on every round until rug measures approximately 36 inches in diameter.
Edging:
- Final Round: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with a slip stitch in the first sc.
- Fasten off and weave in the ends using a tapestry needle.
