Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Base of the Bag
- Using the lightest shade of yarn, cast on 60 stitches using the long tail cast-on method for a clean edge.

2. Body of the Bag
- Transition to the second lightest shade of yarn.
- Begin the body of the bag:

- Row 2 (Wrong Side): P5, *k2, p6, k2, p5; repeat from * to end.

3. Top Edge

- Bind off all stitches loosely to ensure the top edge has some stretch.
4. Handles
- With the darkest shade, pick up and knit 10 stitches from the top edge, 5 inches from the side seam.
- Work in garter stitch for 24 inches to create the handle length.
- Bind off and attach the handle to the opposite side of the bag.
- Repeat the process for the second handle on the other side of the bag.
5. Finishing
- Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle to give your tote a clean finish.
- Block the bag to shape, ensuring that the cables and edges are well-defined.
