Cozy Textured Rectangular Pillows

These textured rectangular pillows are a fantastic project for knitters and crocheters of all levels. With their charming colors and comfortable dimensions, they make perfect decorative pillows or gifts!

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn: 1 skein of bulky weight yarn in charcoal grey, 1 skein in peachy pink, and 1 skein in camel brown.
  • Needles: US size 10 (6 mm) knitting needles or appropriate crochet hook for bulky yarn.
  • Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill or pillow form.
  • Yarn needle: For weaving in ends.
  • Scissors: For cutting yarn.

Gauge:

4 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (knitting) or 4 stitches = 4 inches in single crochet (crocheting).

Abbreviations:

  • k: knit
  • p: purl
  • st(s): stitch(es)
  • RS: right side
  • WS: wrong side
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet

Instructions:

For the Charcoal Grey Pillow:

  1. Cast on 40 stitches using the charcoal grey yarn.
  2. Work in ribbing (k2, p2) for 6 inches.
  3. Switch to stockinette stitch (knit all rows) for another 12 inches.
  4. Bind off all stitches.
  5. Fold the rectangle in half with the RS facing inwards.
  6. Using the yarn needle, stitch along the edges to form a pillowcase while leaving one edge open.
  7. Turn the pillowcase right side out and stuff with fiberfill or insert a pillow form.
  8. Stitch the opening closed securely.

For the Peachy Pink Pillow:

  1. Cast on 30 stitches using the peachy pink yarn.
  2. Work in single crochet until the rectangle measures 12 inches.
  3. For the heart: Switch to black yarn and use a tapestry needle to stitch a small heart shape in the center of the pillow.
  4. Fold the rectangle in half and stitch the edges, leaving one edge open.
  5. Turn right side out, stuff, and sew up the final edge.

For the Camel Brown Pillow:

  1. Cast on 35 stitches using the camel brown yarn.
  2. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) until the pillow measures 10 inches.
  3. Bind off and stitch the edges as previously described, leaving an end open for stuffing.

Finishing Touches:
