Crochet Festive Christmas Cookie Ornament Set Free Pattern

Materials Needed

  • Worsted weight yarn in brown, white, red, green, and any other desired colors
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Polyfill stuffing for added thickness (optional)

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • inc = increase (2 sc in the same st)
  • dec = decrease (single crochet two stitches together)

Instructions

General Instructions

All ornaments are worked in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise. Use a stitch marker to keep track of rounds.

Star Ornament

  1. With green yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: ch 1, 5 sc in magic ring, tighten ring. (5 sts)
  3. Round 2: 2 sc in each st around. (10 sts)
  4. Round 3-4: Sc around. (10 sts)
  5. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
  6. With white yarn, embroider a snowflake design on the front.
  7. Edge with brown yarn: Join with sl st, ch 1, sc around, sl st to beginning sc.
  8. Create a small loop with the brown yarn for hanging.

Tree Ornament

  1. With green yarn, 'Row 1: ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Turn.
  2. Row 2: ch 1, sc across. Turn.
  3. Row 3: ch 3, sc into the base of the ch 3, sc each across. Turn.
  4. Repeat until you have a tree shape.
  5. Decorate with white yarn for garlands and red yarn for baubles.
  6. Edge with brown yarn.
  7. Add a loop for hanging.

Gingerbread Man Ornament

  1. With brown yarn, make a magic ring.
  2. Round 1: ch 1, 6 sc in ring. (6 sts)
  3. Round 2: 2 sc in each st. (12 sts)
  4. Rounds 3-5: sc around. (12 sts)
  5. Fasten off and repeat for a total of two shapes. Sew together.
  6. Decorate with embroidery in white for icing and use buttons or yarn for details.
  7. Add a loop with brown yarn.

Repeat similar steps for other ornaments such as the mitten, candy cane, and bell by altering shapes and colors as needed.

Assembly

Using the tapestry needle and long yarn tails, embroider details and join front and back of each shape, leaving a gap to add stuffing if desired. Complete by sewing closed and attaching a loop for hanging.
