Colorful Green Lace Shawl

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in various shades of green (light green, medium green, dark green) and one small skein of light gray
  • Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations:

  • k = knit
  • p = purl
  • yo = yarn over
  • k2tog = knit two together
  • st(s) = stitch(es)

Instructions:

Cast On:

Cast on 60 stitches with light green yarn.

Rows 1-10:

Row 1: k across.

Row 2: p across.

Row 3: k across.

Row 4: p across.

Row 5: k across.

Row 6: p across.

Row 7: k across.

Row 8: p across.

Row 9: k across.

Row 10: p across.

Begin Lace Pattern:

Change to medium green yarn.

Rows 11-20:

Row 11: *k2, yo, k2tog; repeat from * to end.

Row 12: k across.

Row 13: k across.

Row 14: *k2, yo, k2tog; repeat from * to end.

Row 15: k across.

Row 16: k across.

Row 17: *k2, yo, k2tog; repeat from * to end.

Row 18: k across.

Row 19: k across.

Row 20: *k2, yo, k2tog; repeat from * to end.

Continue with Color:

Switch to dark green yarn and repeat Rows 11-20 two more times.

Finish the Shawl:

Switch back to light gray yarn and knit 10 rows of garter stitch (knit every row).

Binding Off:

Bind off all stitches loosely. Cut the yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Thread the tail through the last stitch to secure it.

Finishing Touches:

Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle. Block your shawl to open up the lace pattern and give it a beautiful drape.

Dimensions:

Approximately 60 inches wide and 30 inches tall at the center point.

Care Instructions:

Hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry.
