Step-by-Step Instructions
Body of the Bee
- Start with a Magic Ring: Using yellow yarn, create a magic ring. This will form the base of your bee.
- Round 1: Work 6 single crochets (sc) into the magic ring. Pull the ring tight to close it.
- Round 2: Increase in each stitch around (12 stitches total). To increase, work 2 single crochets in the same stitch.
- Round 3: (Sc in the next stitch, increase) around. You should have 18 stitches at the end of this round.
- Continue Increasing: Repeat the increase pattern until you reach a total of 30 stitches.
- Work Even: For the next 5 rounds, simply work 1 single crochet in each stitch (30 stitches) without increasing or decreasing.
- Switch to Black Yarn: Change to black yarn and work 2 rounds of single crochet (30 stitches each round).
- Switch Back to Yellow Yarn: Change back to yellow yarn and work 5 rounds of single crochet (30 stitches each round).
- Begin Decreasing: (Sc in the next 3 stitches, decrease) around until you have 6 stitches remaining.
- Stuff the Bee: Fill the body with fiberfill to give it a nice shape.
- Finish Off: Fasten off the yarn and weave in the ends using a tapestry needle.
Wings
- Using White Yarn: Start by chaining 6.
- Sc in the 2nd Chain: From the hook, sc in the 2nd chain from the hook.
- Half Double Crochet: Hdc in the next 2 chains.
- Double Crochet: Dc in the next chain.
- 5 Double Crochets: In the last chain, work 5 double crochets. This creates the rounded tip of the wing.
- Work on the Opposite Side: Dc in the next chain, hdc in the next 2 chains, and sc in the last chain.
- Fasten Off: Cut the yarn and fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.
- Attach the Wings: Sew the wings to the top of the bee's body using the long tail of yarn.
Antennae
- Using Black Yarn: Chain 10.
- Slip Stitch: Work a slip stitch in each chain back to the start to create a thin antennae.
- Attach to the Head: Sew the antennae to the top of the bee's head, positioning them as desired.
Face Embroidery
