Instructions

For One Glove (Make 2)

  1. Prepare: Using the size 8 needles, CO 48 stitches. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker to signify the beginning of the round.
  2. Cuff: K2, P2 for 2 inches to create a stretchy cuff.
  3. Body of the Glove: Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) and continue until the work measures 6 inches from the cast-on edge.
  4. For the Thumb Opening: Place the first 12 stitches on a stitch holder or waste yarn (for the thumb). Knit the next 24 stitches in the round, ensuring it is straight. This sets up the thumb opening.
  5. Continue Body: Purl 10 more rounds after creating the thumb opening. Then, begin decreasing for the top of the glove.
  6. Decrease for the Top: Begin decreasing as follows:
    - Round 1: K2, K2tog (repeat to end of round).
    - Round 2: K all stitches.
    - Round 3: K1, K2tog (repeat to end of round).
    - Round 4: K all stitches.
    - Round 5: K2tog to end of round, leaving about 8 stitches.
  7. Finish the Glove: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Use the yarn needle to thread through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the glove. Weave in all ends.
  8. Create the Thumb: Using size 7 DPNs, pick up the 12 stitches you set aside earlier. Pick up 4 additional stitches to prevent holes (total 16 stitches). Join in the round.
  9. Cuff of Thumb: K2, P2 for 1 inch.
  10. Finish Thumb: Switch to stockinette and knit until thumb measures 2.5 inches. Decrease like you did for the top of the glove, finishing with 8 stitches. Cut yarn, thread through stitches, and pull tight. Weave in ends.

Repeat for the second glove. Enjoy your cozy gloves!
