Red Fox Baby Hat with Ears
This pattern is designed for a sweet, snug-fitting baby hat that resembles a playful fox. It features pointy ears in white and red, perfect for keeping your baby stylish and warm.
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in Red (approx. 100 yards)
- Worsted weight yarn in White (approx. 20 yards)
- Size 8 US (5 mm) circular knitting needles
- Size 8 US (5 mm) double-pointed needles

- Scissors

17 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Instructions
Hat
- CO 72 stitches with red yarn onto your circular needles.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the round.
- Knit in 1x1 ribbing (K1, P1) for 1.5 inches.
- Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) for the next 4 inches.
- Begin decreasing for the crown of the hat:
- Round 1: *K8, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (64 stitches).
- Round 2: Knit.
- Round 3: *K7, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (56 stitches).
- Round 4: Knit.
- Round 5: *K6, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (48 stitches).
- Round 6: Knit.
- Round 7: *K5, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (40 stitches).
- Round 8: Knit.
- Round 9: *K4, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (32 stitches).
- Round 10: Knit.
- Round 11: *K3, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (24 stitches).
- Round 12: Knit.
- Round 13: *K2, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (16 stitches).
- Round 14: Knit.
- Round 15: *K1, K2tog; repeat from * to end of round (8 stitches).
- Round 16: K2tog across (4 stitches).
- Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Thread it through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the hat. Weave in ends.
Ears (make 2)
- CO 5 stitches with red yarn.
- Knit 3 rows.
- Switch to white yarn and knit 1 row.
- Decrease by knitting 2 together (2 stitches left), then BO.
- Leave a long tail for sewing. Fold the ear slightly to create a point and sew onto the top of the hat.
Finishing
Weave in all ends and ensure the ears are securely attached.
