Crochet Textured Vintage Floral Tissue Box Cover
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn in cream (main color), soft pink, mustard yellow, and fern green (floral accents)
- 4.5 mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
Gauge: 16 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Finished Size: Fits standard square tissue boxes
Stitch Guide:
- Chain (ch)
- Slip stitch (sl st)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Double crochet (dc)
- Half double crochet (hdc)
Instructions:
Base
- With cream yarn, make a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same stitch, 2 dc in each stitch around. Join. (24 dc)
- Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next* repeat around. Join. (36 dc)
- Rounds 4-6: Ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Join.
Sides
- Switch to a textured stitch (like the moss stitch) for the body: Ch 1, *sc in next stitch, skip one stitch, hdc in next* repeat around. Join.
- Work 15 rows in the textured stitch.
Top Edge
- Round 1: Switch back to cream yarn. Ch 1, sc around the top edge. Join.
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in each sc around. Join. (You can leave a small opening for tissues.)
Floral Motifs
- Using the soft pink, mustard yellow, and fern green yarn, create a variety of flowers and leaves using basic flower stitches.
