Crochet Natural Striped Beach Tote Bag Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Cotton yarn in two colors: Natural (Color A) and Brown (Color B)
• Crochet hook size I/9 (5.5mm)
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• st(s) = stitch(es)

Instructions:

Base (Solid Section):

1. With Color B, ch 51.
2. Round 1: Sc in second ch from hook and each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; working along opposite side of foundation ch, sc in each ch across, 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. (104 sts)
3. Round 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc.

Body (Striped Section):

1. Round 5: Change to Color A, ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join with sl st to first hdc.
2. Round 6: Ch 1, (hdc, ch 1, skip next st) around. Join with sl st to first hdc.
3. Round 7: Repeat Round 5.
4. Round 8: Change to Color B, repeat Round 5.
5. Round 9-10: Repeat Round 6.
6. Repeat Rounds 5-10 alternating between Color A and Color B for a total of 12 rounds (or until desired height).

Top (Solid Section):

1. With Color B, ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc.
2. Repeat for 3 more rounds.

Handles:

1. Lay bag flat and mark 5 inches from each side for handle placement.
2. With Color B, attach yarn and ch 50 for handle.
3. Attach to marked point on opposite side with sl st.
4. Repeat on other side for second handle.
5. Sc around each handle to reinforce.

Finishing:

• Fasten off and weave in all ends.
• Gently block to shape if necessary.
