Cozy Ribbed Scarf Pattern

This Cozy Ribbed Scarf is a quick and beginner-friendly project that will keep you warm all winter long. It's made with a lovely soft green yarn that provides both comfort and style. With its ribbed texture, this scarf is not only warm but also visually appealing.

Materials

  • Yarn: 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (approximately 200 yards) in a soft green color
  • Needles: US size 10 (6 mm) knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge

For this project, your gauge should be approximately 4 stitches = 1 inch in ribbing stitch. It’s always good to make a swatch before starting your scarf to ensure you get the right dimensions.

Abbreviations

  • CO: Cast On
  • k: Knit
  • p: Purl
  • k2, p2: Knit 2 stitches, Purl 2 stitches
  • BO: Bind Off

Instructions

  1. Cast On: Begin by casting on 30 stitches (or more for a wider scarf) using the long tail method onto your size 10 needles.
  2. Row 1: Start your ribbing pattern by knitting 2 stitches, then purl 2 stitches across the row. Repeat this pattern until you reach the last stitch, which you should knit.
  3. Continue the Pattern: Repeat Row 1 until your scarf is approximately 60 inches long, or your desired length. This typically takes about 40 rows.
  4. Last Row: For the final row, knit 2 stitches, purl 2 stitches and continue until the end. Make sure to end with a knit stitch.
  5. Bind Off: To finish, bind off in ribbing pattern (k2, p2) across the row. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for weaving in later.
  6. Weave in Ends: Using the tapestry needle, weave in any loose ends on both sides of the scarf.

Your Cozy Ribbed Scarf is now complete! Wrap it around your neck to keep warm or gift it to someone special. Enjoy your new cozy accessory!
