Instructions
Body
- Cast On: CO 80 stitches with the beige yarn. This will form the base of your sweater. Use a long-tail cast on method for a stretchy edge.
- Ribbing: Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 4 rows. This will create the bottom hem of the sweater.
- Start Pattern: Change to stockinette stitch (knit every row) and alternate colors as follows:
- Row 1-4: Teal
- Row 5-8: Brown
- Row 9-12: Light Gray
- Row 13-16: White
- Row 17-20: Beige
- Continue this pattern for a total of 40 rows or until the piece measures 16 inches in length from the cast-on edge.
- Divide for Arms: To create the armholes, knit to the center of the row and place the next 20 stitches on a stitch holder. Continue knitting the remaining stitches.
- Back Part: Continue working in pattern for an additional 20 rows. The total length of this piece should now be about 22 inches.
- Bind Off: Use the BO technique to secure your stitches at the end of your piece.
Finalize the Sweater
- Repeat the above steps to create the front of the sweater. For the front, you may want to create a neckline by binding off the center 10 stitches on the last set of rows, then continue on each side separately.
- Once both pieces are complete, use a tapestry needle to sew the sides and shoulder seams together, making sure to weave in all ends.
- Finally, wash your sweater gently by hand and lay it flat to dry to shape it nicely. Enjoy wearing your beautiful new piece!
