Instructions

Body

  1. CO 120 stitches with the Dark Brown yarn using 4.5 mm needles.
  2. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker to denote the beginning of the round.
  3. Work in 1x1 ribbing (K1, P1) for 10 cm (4 inches).
  4. Switch to stockinette stitch (K every stitch) and continue until the piece measures 40 cm (16 inches) from the cast on edge.
  5. Next, you will begin the yoke pattern:
    • On the next round, switch to the colorwork pattern using Cream and Red yarn.
    • Follow the yoke pattern as follows:
    • Round 1: K2 with Dark Brown, K2 with Cream, K4 with Red, K2 with Cream, K2 with Dark Brown
    • Continue to alternate colors, repeating this pattern until you reach the desired height of the yoke (approximately 15 cm or 6 inches).
    • When you are finished with the colorwork, switch back to Dark Brown yarn.

Sleeves

  1. Once the body is complete, divide the stitches—leave 60 stitches for the front and back, and place 30 stitches on hold for each sleeve.
  2. To knit the sleeves, pick up the 30 held stitches and CO an additional 20 stitches to each side (totaling 70 stitches).
  3. Work in stockinette stitch for 40 cm (16 inches), then decrease at the end of every 5th row by K2tog until 30 stitches remain.
  4. Work in 1x1 ribbing for 10 cm (4 inches), then bind off loosely.

Finishing

  1. Repeat the sleeve instructions for the second sleeve.
  2. Weave in all ends with a yarn needle.
  3. Block your sweater to measurements for a polished finish.
  4. Enjoy your cozy Nordic-inspired sweater!
