Crochet Soft Lavender Baby Cocoon with Tassel Free Pattern

Materials

  • Yarn: Bulky weight yarn in lavender
  • Hook: 6.5 mm crochet hook
  • Notions: Yarn needle, scissors, one wooden button (1 inch diameter)

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch

Pattern

Base of Cocoon

  1. Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, work 8 sc into ring, join with sl st. (8 sc)
  3. Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st. (16 sc)
  4. Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st. (24 sc)
  5. Continue increasing by 8 sc evenly each round until you have 64 sc.
  6. Work even in sc for 12 rows or until desired length, then finish off.

Wrap Section

  1. Ch 21, turn.
  2. Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and across. (20 sc)
  3. Rows 2-40: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (Continue until wrap reaches desired width to overlap cocoon snuggly.)

Hood

  1. Ch 32, turn.
  2. Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each across. (31 sc)
  3. Rows 2-28: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
  4. Fold in half, sew seam to form point.

Finishing

  1. Attach the hood to the base of the cocoon by sewing along the edge.
  2. Sew the wrap in place by attaching it at either side of the cocoon base.
  3. Sew on the button securely on one side of the wrap edge.
  4. Make a tassel using lavender yarn and attach it to the pointed end of the hood.
