Warm and Whimsical Fair Isle Fingerless Gloves
These fingerless gloves are designed for warmth and comfort while allowing for free movement of your fingers. The whimsical fair isle pattern adds a special touch, and the use of worsted weight yarn ensures they knit up quickly!
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in two colors (Color A and Color B)
- US 8 (5 mm) double-pointed needles or a circular needle for magic loop
- Stitch marker
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Sizes:
- Small: 6 inches wide
- Medium: 7 inches wide
- Large: 8 inches wide
Abbreviations:
- CO = Cast On
- ST = Stitch
- K = Knit
- P = Purl
- PM = Place Marker
- Inc = Increase
- Dec = Decrease
Instructions:
Cuff:
- CO 30 (34, 38) stitches in Color A.
- Join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches. PM to mark the beginning of the round.
- K1, P1 for 2 inches to create ribbing.
Main Glove Body:
- Change to stockinette stitch (K all stitches) for 4 inches.
- Begin fair isle pattern (use chart) for the next 2 inches.
- After completing the pattern, knit 2 more inches in stockinette stitch.
Thumb Opening:
- Next round: K 15 (17, 19), place 6 stitches on hold for the thumb, K to end of round.
Finish Glove:
- Continue to knit until the glove measures 8 inches from the cast-on edge.
- BO all stitches.
Thumb:
- Rejoin yarn to the 6 held stitches, pick up 2 stitches (8 total).
- K in the round for 2 inches, then BO all stitches.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends and block if desired.
