Crochet Whimsical Woodland Gnome Amigurumi Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in mustard yellow, forest green, and burnt orange for hats
  • Worsted weight yarn in beige, brown, and cream for bodies, arms, noses, and beards
  • Crochet hook size 4mm
  • Polyester fiberfill for stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Small gardening tools for accessories (optional)

Abbreviations:

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • st: stitch
  • inc: increase (2 sc in next st)
  • dec: decrease (sc 2 together)

Body:

  1. With beige yarn, make a magic circle.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in magic circle. (6)
  3. Round 2: Inc around. (12)
  4. Round 3: (Sc, inc) around. (18)
  5. Rounds 4-10: Sc in each st around. (18)
  6. Rounds 11-15: Change to brown or olive yarn, sc in each st around. (18)
  7. Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill.
  8. Round 16: (Sc, dec) around. (12)
  9. Round 17: Dec around. (6)
  10. Finish off and weave in the end.

Hat:

  1. With mustard yellow, forest green, or burnt orange yarn, make a magic circle.
  2. Round 1: 3 sc in magic circle. (3)
  3. Round 2: Sc in each st around. (3)
  4. Round 3: (Sc, inc) around. (4)
  5. Round 4: Sc in each st around. (4)
  6. Continue increasing 1 stitch every other round until you reach 18 sc.
  7. Rounds 11-18: Sc in each st around. (18)
  8. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Arms (Make 2):

  1. With beige yarn, chain 2.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)
  3. Rounds 2-4: Sc in each st around. (6)
  4. Change to brown or olive yarn and sc for 2 more rounds.
  5. Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Nose:

  1. With beige yarn, chain 2.
  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. (6)
  3. Round 2: Inc around. (12)
  4. Finish off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Beard:

  1. Cut strands of cream yarn approximately 10 cm long.
  2. Attach each strand to the face under the nose area using a latch hook method for a full beard.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the nose onto the center front of the body.
  2. Attach the arms to either side of the body just below the head.
  3. Position and sew the hat onto the head, tucking the top of the body into the hat.
  4. Trim and tidy the beard as desired.
  5. Optional: Attach small gardening tools to the hands for added charm.
