Crochet Vintage-Inspired Ornate Doily Medley Free Pattern

Materials Needed

  • Cotton crochet thread (various shades of cream, pink, blue)
  • Crochet hook size 1.75 mm
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge is not critical for this project.

Instructions

Large Sunburst Doily

  1. Round 1: With cream thread, ch 8, form a ring, ch 3 (counts as dc), 15 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. (16 dc)
  2. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (32 dc)
  3. Round 3: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2), skip 1 st, dc in next, *ch 2, skip 1 st, dc in next; repeat from * around, join. (16 dc)
  4. Continue in this pattern, increasing the number of chains between groups every 3 rounds, until you reach the desired size. Finish off and weave in ends.

Floral Motif Doily (Pink)

  1. Round 1: With pink thread, ch 6, form ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring. Join. (12 sc)
  2. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each sc around. Join. (24 dc)
  3. Round 3: Ch 5, skip next st, sc in next, *ch 5, skip next st, sc in next; repeat from * around. Join.
  4. Round 4: In each ch-5 loop, work sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc. Join and finish off.

Square Motif Doily

  1. Foundation: Ch 25.
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across. (23 dc)
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each dc across.
  4. Alternate dc and sc rows until the piece measures a square. Finish with an sc row, fasten off.

Repeat these motifs as needed to create a beautiful assembled medley of doilies. Adjust sizes by simply adding rounds or rows where necessary, or swap colors for a diverse look. Assemble creatively to mimic the image inspiration.
