Crochet Textured Twisted Cable Mittens Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards)
- 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- Darning needle for weaving in ends
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- bpdc = back post double crochet
- fpdc = front post double crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- sl st = slip stitch
Size:
- Adult, with a possibility to adjust for smaller or larger sizes.
Gauge:
- 14 stitches and 10 rows equals 4 inches in dc stitch.
Instructions:
Cuff:
1. Ch 12. 2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and continue to end. (11 sc) 3. Row 2-8: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. 4. After 8 rows, fold the piece in half and slip stitch the edges together to form a cuff.Main Body:
1. Ch 34 (this will be the foundation row). 2. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc across. (32 dc) 3. Row 2: Ch 2, turn. *Fdc in first st, bpdc in next st; repeat from * across (32 st). 4. Row 3-6: Repeat Row 2 for twisted cable effect. 5. Row 7: Ch 2, turn. *Dc in first st, dc in next 15 st, fdc in next, bpdc in next (creating a twist), dc in remaining st; repeat for the other mitten, leaving an opening for the thumb on the third mitten (about 10 st). 6. Complete until you have 12 rows or desired length.Thumb:
1. Join yarn at the base of the thumb opening. 2. Ch 2, and work 10 dc around, joining to the beginning. 3. Repeat the cable pattern as established for 5 rows. 4. Finish off and weave in all ends.Finishing:
