Crochet Textured Twisted Cable Fingerless Mitts Free Pattern

Materials Required
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards)
- Size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge
12 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (dc)
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- fpdc = front post double crochet
- bpdc = back post double crochet
Instructions
Start with the Cuff
- Ch 10 (or desired length for the cuff).
- Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (9 sc)
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, *fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the cuff measures approximately 8" or desired length.
- Join the ends together with a sl st to form a circle.
Body of the Mitts
- Row 1: Ch 1 and sc in each st around the cuff. Join with a sl st.
- Row 2: Ch 1, *dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join.
- Row 3: Ch 1, *fpdc in next st, bpdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join.
- Continue alternating between rows of dc and cable stitches until the mitt reaches your desired height (approximately 6-7 inches).
Thumb Opening
- For the thumb opening, when reaching 6" into the body, chain 5 and skip the next 5 stitches.
- Continue to dc around until you come back to the skipped stitches. Join.
- In the next round, work dc in each st until you reach the chain, then dc in each ch (this will create the thumb hole).
Finishing
- Once you reach your desired thumb height, fasten off and weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- Repeat for the second mitt.
