Materials Needed

  • Worsted weight yarn (approximately 400 yards total)
  • Colors of your choice (suggested: 2 complementary shades)
  • H/8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

16 double crochet stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches in the main stitch pattern

Finished Size

Approximately 60 inches wide and 24 inches deep

Stitch Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • dc: double crochet
  • sc: single crochet

Instructions

Foundation Row:

Ch 5, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in last ch. (2 dc)

Row 1:

Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn, dc in first dc, dc in next dc. (3 dc)

Row 2:

Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in last dc. (5 dc)

Row 3:

Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in first dc, 3 dc in next dc, 2 dc in last dc. (8 dc)

Continue Adding Rows:

Repeat Row 3, increasing one dc on each end every other row until desired width. Change yarn color on every third row for a subtle gradient effect.

Working the Texture:

In every other row, alternate a row of dc with a row of (sc, ch 1, skip 1) for a textured appearance.

Finishing:

When you reach the desired length, finish with a row of dc across.

Lace Edge:

For a decorative edge, ch 1, sc in the first dc, *ch 3, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc; repeat from * across. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Care Instructions

Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry.
