Materials:

  • Bulky weight yarn (approximately 150 yards)
  • 6.5 mm (K) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Stitches Used:

  • Chain (ch)
  • Slip stitch (sl st)
  • Single crochet (sc)
  • Double crochet (dc)
  • Half double crochet (hdc)

Gauge:

12 stitches and 8 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.

Size:

This pattern fits most adult hands, approximately 7-8 inches in circumference.

Pattern Instructions:

Cuff

  1. Chain 10.
  2. Row 1: Hdc in the second ch from the hook and in each ch across (9 hdc). Turn.
  3. Row 2: Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across. Turn.
  4. Repeat Row 2 until your cuff measures about 7 inches long. Fasten off.

Main Body

  1. Join your yarn to one end of the cuff, ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in same stitch.
  2. Dc in each stitch around, joining with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch-2.
  3. Repeat for a total of 6 rounds, increasing by 4 stitches evenly spaced in the last round to fit your hand comfortably.

Thumb Opening

  1. After the main body, leave the last 10 stitches unworked and chain 10 for the thumb opening. Join to the body after chaining.
  2. Continue working in rounds for another 4 rounds.
  3. Fasten off.

Thumb Section

  1. Attach yarn to the base of the thumb opening.
  2. Ch 2, dc in each stitch around (10 stitches). Join with a sl st.
  3. Continue working in rounds for 5 more rounds. Fasten off.

Finishing Touches
