Soft Textured Lace Fingerless Mitts
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 100 yards)
- 5mm (H) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Measuring tape
Gauge:
14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch.
Size:
This pattern can be adjusted for larger or smaller sizes by changing the chain count.
Stitches Used:
- Ch - chain
- DC - double crochet
- SL ST - slip stitch
- SC - single crochet
- FPDC - front post double crochet
- BPDC - back post double crochet
Instructions:
Cuff
- Ch 30 (or adjust for size). Join with SL ST to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 2, DC in each ch around. Join with SL ST.
- Round 2: Ch 2, FPDC around the first DC, *BPDC around the next DC, FPDC around the next DC; repeat from * around. Join with SL ST.
- Repeat Round 2 until cuff measures 2 inches.
Main Motif
- Ch 30 (or adjust for size) to start a new round.
- Round 1: DC in each ch around. Join with SL ST.
- Round 2: *Ch 1, skip 1 DC, DC in next DC; repeat from * around. Join with SL ST.
- Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as first DC), DC in same stitch, *ch 1, skip next stitch, 2 DC in next stitch; repeat from * around. Join with SL ST.
- Round 4: Ch 1, SC in each stitch around. Join with SL ST.
- Continue in this pattern until the mitts reach your desired length, usually around 6-7 inches.
Thumb Opening
- After completing the last round, ch 5 and skip 5 stitches to create the thumb hole.
- DC in each stitch around the remaining stitches, completing the section for the palm.
- After the main round, work the thumb section with SC for about 2 inches. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing later.
Finish
- Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle. Cut off any excess yarn.
- Repeat the pattern for the second mitt.
