Materials Needed:

• Soft worsted weight yarn (approx. 100 yards)
• Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook

Gauge:

9 stitches = 4 inches in half double crochet.

Sizes:

• Newborn (0-3 months)
• 3-6 months
• 6-12 months
• 12-18 months

Stitch Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• hdc = half double crochet
• sl st = slip stitch
• st = stitch

Instructions:

Right Mitten:

1. Chain 12 (or adjust for size).
2. Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across (10 hdc). Turn.
3. Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st across (10 hdc). Turn.
4. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 4 inches.
5. Now shape the mitten:
   • Row 5: Ch 2, hdc in next 8 sts, ch 2 (2nd thumb opening).
   • Row 6: Work in hdc across (8 hdc, skip ch 2).
6. Continue working straight until the mitten reaches 6 inches from base.
7. Finish off, weave in ends.

Left Mitten:

1. Make as per Right Mitten but reverse shaping, keeping thumb opening on the opposite side.

Finishing:

To make the cuff, attach yarn at wrist and work in ribbing with alternating sc and dc for 2 inches. Finish off and weave in ends.
