Crochet Serene Ocean Breeze Ripple Poncho
Yarn: Light weight cotton or a cotton blend (approx. 600-800 yards total)
Hooks: 5.0 mm (H) and 6.0 mm (J)
Gauge: 16 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in ripple stitch pattern
Stitches Used:
- Ch - Chain
- Dc - Double Crochet
- Sc - Single Crochet
- St - Stitch
- R - Row
- Sl St - Slip Stitch
Instructions:
Panel 1:
- Using the 5.0 mm hook, ch 60 (or desired width) + 2 for turning.
- R1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across (58 dc). Turn.
- R2: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), dc in next st, (ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st) repeat across until 2 sts remain, dc in last 2 sts. Turn.
- R3: Ch 3, dc in each dc and ch-1 space across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2-3 until your piece measures 24 inches or desired length.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Panel 2:
Repeat Panel 1.
Joining Panels:
- Lay the two panels flat, aligning the top edges.
- Using the 6.0 mm hook, place a sl st to join the two panels at the top 10 inches on each side, creating an opening for the head.
- Trim any excess yarn and weave in all ends.
Edging:
- With the 5.0 mm hook, attach yarn to the bottom of the poncho with a sl st.
- Ch 1, sc around the entire edge, placing 3 sc in each corner.
- Join with a sl st in the first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
