Crochet Light and Airy Bohemian Flower Poncho Free Pattern
Materials:
- Sport weight cotton-linen blend yarn in three colors (A, B, C)
- Crochet hook size 4.0 mm (G hook)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge:
16 double crochets and 8 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Size:
This poncho fits sizes S to L with flexibility for larger sizes by adjusting the number of motifs.
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sp = space
- rnd = round
Instructions:
Flower Motif (Make 6)
- With color A, ch 6 and join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Change to color B, ch 2, *(dc in next dc, ch 1)* repeat around. Join with sl st to first ch-2. (12 ch-1 sp)
- Round 3: Change to color C, *in each ch-1 sp: (dc, ch 2, dc)*, repeat around. Join with sl st to first dc. Fasten off.
Joining the Motifs
Arrange the 6 flower motifs in a circular pattern. With the wrong side facing you, use color A to join motifs with sl st through the corners. Make sure the flowers are evenly spaced.
Main Poncho Body
- From your joined motifs, ch 60 for the neck opening.
- Row 1: In the first motif, dc in each st across to the next motif, continuing until you reach the end of the round.
- Row 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in each dc until the end of the round. Repeat for a total of 12 rows or until desired length is reached.
Finishing:
- Slip stitch in each stitch around the neck for a clean finish.
- Secure and weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
