Crochet Flexible Textured Cuff Mittens Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards)
- Size H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Stitch markers
- Button (optional)
Gauge:
12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Size:
Adult size (adjustable for children)
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- st = stitch
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease
Pattern:
Cuff
- Make a slip knot and chain 8.
- In the 2nd chain from the hook, work 1 sc, then continue to make 6 sc across (7 sc total).
- Chain 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each stitch for 28 rows total, creating a long rectangle.
- Fold the rectangle in half and join edges with sl st, forming a cuff.
Main Section
- Attach yarn to the top of the cuff with a sl st.
- Ch 2 (counts as first dc), then work 1 dc in each stitch around, join with sl st at the end of the round.
- Repeat this for 10 rounds total.
- Next, create the thumbhole: work 5 dc, ch 3 (to create the thumbhole), skip 3 stitches, then continue with 5 dc. Join with sl st.
- Continue working in rounds until the total length reaches about 8 inches or desired length.
Thumb
- To make the thumb, create a chain of 10.
- Join to the initial stitch with a sl st, creating a loop.
- Work 1 dc in each chain, joining with sl st at the end of the round.
- Continue for 6-8 rounds.
- Finish off and sew the thumb to the side of the mitten.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends with a yarn needle.
- Optionally, sew a button on the cuff for a decorative touch.
