Crochet Festive Striped Elf Hat with Bow Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in red and white
- Crochet hook size G (4.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- inc: increase (2 sc in one stitch)
- st(s): stitch(es)
Instructions:
Hat:
- With red yarn, create a magic ring.
- Rnd 1: 4 sc in the ring. (4 sts)
- Rnd 2: [inc] around. (8 sts)
- Rnd 3: sc in each st around. (8 sts)
- Rnd 4: [sc 1, inc] around. (12 sts)
- Rnd 5: sc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Continue increasing every other row by 4 sts until you reach 60 sts.
- Alternate 4 rows of red and white stripes until hat reaches desired length (approximately 30 rows in total).
Brim:
- With white yarn, join at the bottom edge of the hat.
- Rnds 1-3: sc in each st around.
- Finish off and weave in ends.
Bow:
- With red yarn, ch 15.
- Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Turn. (14 sts)
- Rows 2-5: ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.
- Finish off and wrap yarn around the center to form the bow shape. Secure with tapestry needle.
- Attach bow to the base of the hat.
Your festive elf hat is complete and ready to wear!
