Crochet Elegant Textured Floral Cuffed Mittens
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in a main color and two contrasting colors for flowers
- Crochet hook (size H/8 or 5.0mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- st: stitch
Gauge:
15 stitches = 4 inches in sc, adjusted as needed for tension.
Instructions:
Cuff:
- Ch 10.
- Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across (9 sc). Turn.
- Row 2-20: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Turn.
- Fold the cuff in half and slip stitch the ends together to form a tube. Fasten off.
Main Mitten Body:
- Join yarn to the bottom of the cuff.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc around the open edge of the cuff (around 30-35 sc). Join with a sl st to the first sc.
- Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as a dc), dc in the next st and each st around. Join.
- Round 3: Ch 1, sc in next st, *hdc in next, dc in next, repeat from * around. Join.
- Repeat Rounds 2-3 until the mitten reaches your desired length (about 8-10 inches for medium size).
Thumb Opening:
- After final round, ch 8 for the thumb opening, skip the next stitches, and join to continue working the mitten until completion.
Floral Embellishments:
- Using contrasting colors, create crochet flowers using the magic ring method, incorporating sc and dc stitches.
- Attach flowers to the mitten body securely using a tapestry needle.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends. Block lightly to shape. Enjoy your stylish new mittens!
