Elegant Lacy Waves Scarf Free Pattern

Skill Level: Easy

Materials:

  • 600 yards of lightweight yarn (e.g., sport or DK weight)
  • Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for finishing

Gauge: 4 inches = 15 double crochets

Pattern Instructions:

This scarf is worked lengthwise. Begin with a foundation chain of 32 (or any multiple of 6 + 2 for rows of waves).

Row 1:

  1. Start with a double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook.
  2. In the next chain, make 1 single crochet, then 5 double crochets in the next chain (this forms the wave point).
  3. Skip 2 chains, and repeat the pattern across the row until 2 chains remain.
  4. Finish the row with 1 single crochet in the last chain.

Row 2:

  1. Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet) and turn.
  2. In the single crochet from the previous row, work 5 double crochets to form the next wave point.
  3. Repeat the wave pattern along the row, ensuring to finish with a single crochet in the turning chain.

Repeat Rows:

Continue repeating Row 2 until the scarf reaches your desired length, generally around 60 inches for a stylish wrap!

Edging:

For a beautiful finish, add a simple scalloped edge:

  1. Work a single crochet into each stitch of the final row.
  2. In each corner stitch, make 3 double crochets, and chain 1 to create the scallop.
  3. Continue the single crochet edging and scallops until you reach the starting point.

Finishing:

Secure all ends with a tapestry needle, and block your scarf lightly if desired to enhance the wave pattern.

Enjoy your beautiful new scarf!
