Elegant Lace Blossom Shawl
Skill Level: Beginner
Materials:
- Lightweight cotton or bamboo yarn (approx. 400 yards)
- Crochet hook size G (4.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Gauge: Not critical for this project, but a loose pattern with a nice drape is preferred.
Stitch Guide:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- dc: double crochet
- st: stitch
- sk: skip
- sl st: slip stitch
Pattern Instructions:
- Start by making a foundation chain of 4 ch.
- Row 1: Make 3 dc in the 4th ch from the hook (this counts as the first puff), ch 2, make a puff stitch in the same st. Turn your work.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in first ch-2 space, *sk 1 st, in next ch-2 space make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc*, repeat from * to * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, make 1 dc in next ch-2 space, *ch 1, sk 3 st, in next ch-2 space make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc*, repeat from * to * across. Turn.
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
- Continue in this manner, alternating Rows 2 and 3 until the shawl reaches your desired length (approximately 60 inches).
- Final Row: Make a sc along the edge for a clean finish.
- Fasten off the yarn, and weave in any ends with a tapestry needle.
Optional Fringes: Cut multiple strands of yarn (about 12 inches long), and tie them onto the edge of the shawl in groups of four to create fringes.
