Charming Textured Cable House Slippers

Materials Needed:

• Chunky weight yarn (approximately 200 yards)
• 5.5mm (I/9) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
• Stitch marker

Gauge:

8 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in single crochet.

Size:

Adult sizes S/M (L/XL), measurements will vary slightly.

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Slip stitch (sl st)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Double crochet (dc)
• Front post double crochet (fpdc)
• Back post double crochet (bpdc)

Instructions:

Slipper Sole:

1. Ch 20 for the foundation chain.
2. Row 1: Sc into second ch from hook and across (19 sc). Turn.
3. Row 2: Ch 1, sc across. Turn.
4. Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 10 inches, ending with a sc row.

Body of the Slipper:

1. Continue from the sole and ch 1, work in rows as follows:
2. Row 1: Sc across (19 sc).
3. Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first st, *fpdc around next sc, bpdc around next*, repeat from * to * until the last 2 sts, dc in last 2. Turn.
4. Repeat Row 2 until your piece measures 6 inches from the sole.

Foot Opening:

1. Ch 1, sc in first 5 sts, ch 10 (this is your foot opening), sc in the next 9 sts. Turn.
2. Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first 5 sts, fpdc around the next, bpdc around the next 9. Turn.
3. Repeat Row 2 until the opening is large enough, then taper to finish.

Finishing:

1. Fold the top down and seam the sides if necessary for a snug fit.
2. Fasten off and weave in all ends with a yarn needle.
3. Repeat for the second slipper.
