Crochet Amigurumi Duckling

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in yellow, orange, and white
• Small amount of red yarn for beak and tail
• Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle
• Black embroidery floss for eyes

Gauge:

Gauge is not critical for this project.

Abbreviations:

• ch = chain
• sc = single crochet
• sc2tog = single crochet two together (decrease)
• st(s) = stitch(es)
• sl st = slip stitch
• FO = finish off

Instructions:

Body:

1. Using yellow yarn, make a magic ring. 6 sc into ring. (6 sts)
2. 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
3. (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around. (18 sts)
4. (Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (24 sts)
5. Sc in each st around for the next 4 rounds.
6. (Sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog) around. (18 sts)
7. (Sc in next st, sc2tog) around. (12 sts)
8. Start stuffing the body firmly.
9. Sc2tog around. (6 sts)
10. FO, leaving a long tail. Use the yarn needle to close up the hole.

Head:

1. Repeat steps 1-5 as for the Body using yellow yarn.
2. FO, leaving a tail for sewing to the body.

Wings (make 2):

1. Using yellow yarn, ch 2.
2. 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sts)
3. 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
4. Sc in each st around.
5. FO and leave a tail for sewing to the body.

Beak:

1. Using red yarn, ch 3.
2. Turn and sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch.
3. FO, leave a long tail for sewing to the head.

Feet (make 2):

1. Using orange yarn, make a magic ring. 5 sc into ring. (5 sts)
2. Sc in each st around for the next round.
3. FO and leave a tail for sewing to the body.

Tail:

1. Using red yarn, ch 4.
2. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 2 chs.
3. FO, leaving a tail for sewing to the body.

Assembly:

1. Sew the head onto the body.
2. Attach the wings to each side of the body.
3. Sew the feet to the bottom of the body, positioning them slightly forward.
4. Attach the beak to the front of the head.
5. Sew the tail to the back of the body.
6. With black embroidery floss, embroider the eyes above the beak.
