Materials Needed
- Worsted weight yarn in beige and brown
- Crochet hook size G (4.0 mm)
- Black embroidery thread or safety eyes
- Stuffing (optional, for top stability only)
- Blush or pink yarn for cheeks
- Button
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- inc: increase (2 sc in one stitch)
- dec: decrease (sc two stitches together)
- st: stitch
- sl st: slip stitch
Instructions
Body
- With beige yarn, create a magic ring.
- Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) around. (18 sts)
- Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) around. (24 sts)
- Continue to increase each round similarly until you have 48 sts.
- Work 20 rounds of sc evenly around (48 sts per round).
- Begin decreasing for the top, (sc in next 6 sts, dec) around. Decrease each round similarly until 6 sts remain.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Face
- Attach safety eyes or use black yarn to embroider eyes on one side.
- With black thread, embroider a small mouth.
- Use pink yarn or blush for cheeks.
Pouch Opening
- Rejoin beige yarn at the bottom where reductions begin and crochet 8 rounds sc through the front loops only, forming a lip
Button Loop
- Row 1: Attach yarn to top, ch 30 (or desired loop length), sl st into opposite side to form loop.
- Row 2: Sc across foundation ch, fasten off.
Back Circle Patch
- With brown yarn, make a magic ring.
- Round 1: 6 sc in ring. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Round 3: (Sc in next, inc) around. (18 sts)
- Round 4: (Sc in next 2, inc) around. (24 sts)
- Fasten off and sew the circle to the body.
- Sew on a button at the top to fasten the loop.
