Materials

• Yarn: Aran weight, 800g in beige
• Knitting needles: Size 9 (5.5mm)
• Cable needle
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch

Abbreviations

• k: knit
• p: purl
• c4f: slip next 2 stitches to cable needle, hold in front, k2, then k2 from cable needle

Instructions

Back

1. Cast on 102 stitches.
2. Work 2x2 rib (k2, p2) for 10 rows.
3. Begin cable pattern:
   • Row 1 (RS): k2, *p2, k6, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, p2.
   • Row 2 (WS): p2, *k2, p6, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2.
   • Row 3: k2, *p2, c4f, k2, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, p2.
   • Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
   • Repeat Rows 1-4 until back measures 26 inches, ending with a WS row.
4. Shape shoulders: Bind off 8 stitches at the beginning of the next 6 rows.
5. Bind off remaining stitches for neck.

Front

1. Cast on 102 stitches.
2. Work in 2x2 rib for 10 rows.
3. Follow cable pattern same as back.
4. Neck shaping:
   • When front measures 24 inches, work to center 20 stitches, place on holder, join another ball of yarn and complete row.
   • Working both sides at once, bind off 3 stitches at each neck edge twice, then decrease 1 stitch at each neck edge every other row 3 times.
5. Shape shoulders: Bind off 8 stitches at the beginning of next 6 rows.

Sleeves

1. Cast on 46 stitches.
2. Work in 2x2 rib for 10 rows.
3. Begin cable pattern, increasing 1 stitch each side every 6th row to 70 stitches.
4. Continue until sleeve measures 18 inches.
5. Bind off loosely.

Finishing

• Sew shoulder seams.
• Pick up 86 stitches around neck and work 2x2 rib for 8 rows. Bind off loosely.
• Sew sleeves into armholes, then sew side seams and sleeve seams.
