Colorful Pom Pom Beanies
Materials
- Yarn: Bulky weight in black, pink, and neon colors of your choice (e.g., yellow, blue)
- Crochet hook: Size J/10 (6.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Pompom maker or cardboard for pom poms
Gauge
10 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in single crochet (sc).
Abbreviations
- st(s) - stitch(es)
- sc - single crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- ch - chain
Instructions
Note: Instructions are given for the hot pink beanie with neon pom pom. Adjust colors as desired for the second beanie.
Beanie Body
- With black yarn, ch 40. Join with a sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around; join with sl st to beginning sc (40 sts).
- Round 2-5: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Change to pink yarn.
- Round 6-15: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Change back to black yarn.
- Round 16: Ch 1, sc in each st around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Round 17: Ch 1, *sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Round 18: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Round 19: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Round 20: Ch 1, *sc in next st, sc2tog; rep from * around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Round 21: Ch 1, sc2tog around; join with sl st to beginning sc.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use tapestry needle to weave through remaining sts, pull tight to close top. Secure and weave in ends.
Pom Pom
- Use a pompom maker or cardboard to create a pom pom with a mix of pink and additional colors if desired.
- Attach pom pom securely to top of the beanie.
Repeat the pattern with the alternative color (e.g., blue and neon yellow) for the second beanie.
Finishing
Weave in any remaining ends. Turn the bottom edge of the beanie up for a stylish brim.
