Cabled Beanie Pattern

Materials

• Yarn: 100g of bulky weight yarn (approx. 100 meters) in a cream color
• Needles: 1 pair of 6.5 mm (US 10.5) circular knitting needles
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Gauge

12 stitches = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch

Abbreviations

• CO = Cast On
• K = Knit
• P = Purl
• K2tog = Knit 2 stitches together
• C4B = Cable 4 Back (Cross 4 stitches to the back)
• C4F = Cable 4 Front (Cross 4 stitches to the front)
• St st = Stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row)

Pattern Instructions

Beanie

1. CO 60 stitches onto the circular needles, ensuring stitches are not twisted.
2. Join in the round and place a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round.
3. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 2 inches (approximately 10 rounds).
4. Begin the body of the hat with the following repeat:

      Round 1: (K2, P2) across to end of round.  
      Round 2: (P2, K2) across to end of round. 
  

5. After completing the ribbing, continue by alternating between rounds of K2, P2 ribbing for 8 rounds.
6. To create the cables, use the following cable pattern for the next 12 rounds:

      Round 1: K10, C4B, K10, C4F, K10.  
      Round 2: Knit all stitches. 
  

7. Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 for a total of 12 rounds, then continue on in the K2, P2 ribbing for 2 more rounds.
8. To shape the crown, begin decreasing:

      Round 1: (K8, K2tog) around. 
      Round 2: Knit all stitches. 
      Round 3: (K7, K2tog) around. 
      Round 4: Knit all stitches. 
      Round 5: (K6, K2tog) around. 
  

9. Continue decreasing in this manner until you have 12 stitches remaining.
10. Cut the yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail, and thread it through the remaining stitches. Pull tight to close the top of the hat.
11. Weave in all ends with a yarn needle.
