Instructions
Hat Body
- CO 64 stitches with the gray yarn.
- Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist your stitches. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round.
- Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 1 inch (approximately 8 rounds).
- Switch to stockinette stitch (K every round) and continue until the hat measures 5 inches from the cast-on edge. This is the height of the hat.
- Use the Kitchener stitch to close the top of the hat, or you can simply gather the stitches if you're more comfortable with that method.
Bunny Ears
- Make 2 ears: CO 14 stitches with the gray yarn.
- Work in stockinette stitch for 10 rows.
- On the next row (RS), K2Tog at the beginning and end of the row (12 stitches remaining).
- Repeat the decrease on the following row (10 stitches remaining).
- Continue decreasing 1 stitch at the beginning and end of each row until you have 4 stitches left.
- Break yarn, leaving a long tail, and thread through remaining stitches. Pull tight to close.
- Fold each ear in half to create a bunny shape, and sew onto the top of the hat securely.
(Optional) Bow for Extra Cuteness
- With the contrasting color yarn, CO 10 stitches.
- Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 2 inches.
- Bind off and fold the piece in the center. Secure with a few stitches to hold the shape.
- Sew the bow onto the hat just below the bunny ears.
Finishing Touches
Weave in all ends using a yarn needle. You can add a cute pom-pom at the back of the hat for added flair if desired!
Congratulations! You have created a charming Baby Bunny Hat that is sure to be loved by all. Enjoy dressing up your little one in this cozy creation!
