Instructions

Hat Body

  1. CO 64 stitches with the gray yarn.
  2. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist your stitches. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round.
  3. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 1 inch (approximately 8 rounds).
  4. Switch to stockinette stitch (K every round) and continue until the hat measures 5 inches from the cast-on edge. This is the height of the hat.
  5. Use the Kitchener stitch to close the top of the hat, or you can simply gather the stitches if you're more comfortable with that method.

Bunny Ears

  1. Make 2 ears: CO 14 stitches with the gray yarn.
  2. Work in stockinette stitch for 10 rows.
  3. On the next row (RS), K2Tog at the beginning and end of the row (12 stitches remaining).
  4. Repeat the decrease on the following row (10 stitches remaining).
  5. Continue decreasing 1 stitch at the beginning and end of each row until you have 4 stitches left.
  6. Break yarn, leaving a long tail, and thread through remaining stitches. Pull tight to close.
  7. Fold each ear in half to create a bunny shape, and sew onto the top of the hat securely.

(Optional) Bow for Extra Cuteness

  1. With the contrasting color yarn, CO 10 stitches.
  2. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) for 2 inches.
  3. Bind off and fold the piece in the center. Secure with a few stitches to hold the shape.
  4. Sew the bow onto the hat just below the bunny ears.

Finishing Touches

Weave in all ends using a yarn needle. You can add a cute pom-pom at the back of the hat for added flair if desired!

Congratulations! You have created a charming Baby Bunny Hat that is sure to be loved by all. Enjoy dressing up your little one in this cozy creation!
