Instructions
Bootie Base
- CO 40 stitches in cream yarn, distribute evenly on 4 DPNs (10 stitches per needle).
- Join into a round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
- Knit 10 rounds in ribbing (K1, P1).
Heel
- Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round).
- Continue knitting for 14 rounds until the piece measures approximately 3 inches from the ribbing.
Colorwork Pattern
- Change to light grey yarn.
- For the next 6 rounds, knit in the following sequence: 2 light grey stitches, 2 white stitches, and 2 dark grey stitches.
- After completing the 6 rounds, change back to cream yarn.
Toe Shaping
- Continue with cream yarn until the total length measures 4 inches from the ribbing.
- Begin decreasing for the toe by knitting two stitches together at the beginning and end of each needle for 4 rounds (reducing to 20 stitches).
- Next, knit 2 rounds even.
- Continue decreasing in the same manner until 12 stitches remain.
Finishing
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Use a tapestry needle to thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the toe.
- Weave in all loose ends using the tapestry needle.
- Make a second bootie following the same steps.
