SOLE (Make 2)

With Color A (Yellow).

Foundation: Ch 7 (9).

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 4 (6) ch, 3 sc in last ch. Working on opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next 4 (6) ch, 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. (14 (18) sts)

Round 2: Ch 1, inc in first st, sc in next 4 (6) sts, inc in next 3 sts, sc in next 4 (6) sts, inc in last 2 sts. Join. (20 (24) sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, inc in next, sc in next 4 (6) sts, (sc in next, inc) 3 times, sc in next 4 (6) sts, (sc in next, inc) 2 times. Join. (26 (30) sts)

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join. Fasten off. (26 (30) sts)

SANDAL BODY

With RS facing, join Color B (Coral) with a sl st to the center back heel stitch.

Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join. (26 (30) sts)

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 2 sts, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next 3 sts; repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. (6 (7) ch-1 spaces)

Round 3: Sl st into next 2 dc and into ch-1 space. Ch 3, 2 dc in same space, *ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * around. Join. (6 (7) groups of 3 dc)

Round 4: Repeat Round 3. Fasten off.

FLAP (Make 2)

With Color C (Mint).

Foundation: Ch 6 (7).

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (5 (6) sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, dec, sc in next 1 (2) sts, dec. Turn. (3 (4) sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, dec, sc in last 1 (2) sts. Turn. (2 (3) sts)

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.

Row 7: Ch 1, dec. (1 (2) sts) Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

STRAP (Make 2)

With Color D (Lavender).

Foundation: Ch 25 (30).

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off. (24 (29) sts)

ASSEMBLY

  1. Attach the Flap: Position the flap on the top of the sandal body, centered over the toe area. Sew the straight edge of the flap to the sandal body using the long tail and a tapestry needle.
  2. Attach the Strap: Sew one end of the strap to the outside edge of the sandal body, near the heel. The strap will cross over the top of the foot and through the flap.
  3. Add Button: Sew a small button (approx. 1/2 inch) onto the flap, positioned so the strap can be buttoned through a ch-1 space or a buttonhole. Alternatively, sew a loop of yarn on the flap to act as a buttonhole.
