Striped Tree Cozy Pattern
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in shades of blue, green, purple, and pink (approximately 200 yards total)
- Size 8 (5.0 mm) knitting needles
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
Gauge
4 stitches and 6 rows = 1 inch in garter stitch
Abbreviations
- k - knit
- p - purl
- st(s) - stitch(es)
Instructions
- Cast On
Using your preferred method, cast on 50 stitches. - Striped Section
- Rows 1-4: With blue yarn, knit across (garter stitch).
- Rows 5-8: Switch to green yarn, knit across.
- Rows 9-12: Switch to purple yarn, knit across.
- Rows 13-16: Switch to pink yarn, knit across.
- Repeat rows 1-16 until work measures 18 inches or desired length, ending with a green section.
- Textured Dots
- Using purple yarn, create dots by knitting three stitches, then purling the next stitch; repeat until the end of the row.
- On the next row, purl the purled stitches and knit the knitted stitches.
- Finishing
- Bind off all stitches loosely in pattern.
- Use the tapestry needle to weave in all ends thoroughly.
- Wrap the cozy around a tree trunk and use leftover yarn to sew the seams together securely.
