Mountain Landscape Sweater

This project features a beautifully designed sweater with a mountain landscape pattern. The sweater is knit in a worsted weight yarn, and features a raglan style with a round neck, and it is cozy yet stylish.

Materials

• Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in the following colors: Light Grey (MC), Dark Grey (CC), Blue (AC), White (BC)
• Needles: US size 8 (5mm) circular needles, 32" long
• Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, measuring tape

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (after blocking)

Abbreviations

• CO: Cast on
• K: Knit
• P: Purl
• St(s): Stitch(es)
• RS: Right side
• WS: Wrong side
• PM: Place marker
• SK: Slip knitwise
• NC: No color (neutral)

Instructions

Body

1. With MC, CO 100 stitches using the long-tail method.
2. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
3. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 2 inches.
4. Switch to stockinette stitch (knit every round) and continue until the body measures 15 inches from CO edge.

Yoke

1. Begin the raglan decreases as follows:

Round 1 (RS): K to 2 sts before marker, SK, SM, K1, SM, SK, K to end.
Repeat this round every 8th round for a total of 10 rounds.

2. Incorporate color changes to create the mountain design, using intarsia for the mountain peaks.
3. Alternate between working with the grey for the base and the blue and white for the mountain peaks, following your color chart. Ensure that you maintain the same number of stitches.
4. Continue decreasing until you have 40 stitches left on the needle.
5. Finish with a K1, P1 ribbing for the neck, 1 inch wide. BO and leave sufficient yarn for sewing.

Sleeves

1. Pick up 40 stitches at the underarm using the DPNs and join in the round.
2. Work in K1, P1 ribbing for 2 inches.
3. Switch to stockinette, knitting until the sleeve measures 17 inches.
4. Repeat raglan decreases as done in the body for the last 5 inches, then switch back to ribbing for the cuff.
5. BO in pattern and weave in all ends.

Finishing

Block the sweater gently to open up stitches and enhance the mountain pattern definition. Sew any loose ends. Your Mountain Landscape Sweater is ready to wear!

Care Instructions

Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry to maintain the shape.
