Crochet Earth-Toned Geometric Diamond Afghan Free Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Lion Brand Yarn in Beige, Brown, and Gray (Bulky Weight)
  • Size K (6.5 mm) Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

Finished Size:

Approximately 70 inches square.

Instructions:

Center Diamond Motif:

  1. With beige yarn, ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring.
  2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc into ring, join with sl st to top of ch 3. (12 dc)
  3. Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st. (24 dc)
  4. Round 3: Switch to brown yarn, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), *dc, ch 1 in next st; repeat from * around, join with sl st.
  5. Round 4: Ch 3, *dc in ch-1 sp, dc in next dc; repeat from * around, join with sl st.

Diamond Expansion:

  1. With gray yarn, ch 4, *dc in next 2 sts, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next st; repeat from * around, join with sl st.
  2. Continue to alternate colors as shown in the image, expanding the diamond motif by adding dc's and (dc, ch 3, dc) in each ch-3 corner sp, with each round.

Border:

  1. Switch back to beige yarn. Work a shell border as follows; *5 dc in next sp, sk 2 sts, sl st; repeat from * around.
  2. Fasten off and weave in ends with tapestry needle.
