Materials Needed
- Yarn: Worsted weight in Cream, Light Blue, Dark Blue, and Brown
- Crochet hook: Size H (5.0 mm)
- 6 buttons
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Gauge
14 dc and 8 rows = 4 inches
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
Pattern
Back Panel
- With Cream, ch 72. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and across. Turn. (70 dc)
- Row 2-4: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Change to Light Blue)
- Row 5-8: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Change to Dark Blue)
- Row 9-12: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Change to Brown)
- Row 13-32: Repeat stripe pattern (Cream, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Brown) until 32 rows are complete. Fasten off.
Front Panels (Make 2)
- With Cream, ch 37. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and across. Turn. (35 dc)
- Row 2-4: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Change to Light Blue)
- Rows 5-8: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Change to Dark Blue)
- Row 9-12: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Change to Brown)
- Row 13-32: Repeat stripe pattern as for the back panel. Fasten off.
Sleeves (Make 2)
- With Cream, ch 38. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and across. Turn. (36 dc)
- Row 2-4: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Increase 1 dc at each end every sixth row, changing colors as per the body pattern)
- Continue until piece measures 18 inches from start, ending with Brown. Fasten off.
Collar
- With Cream, ch 72. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
Pockets (Make 2)
- With Cream, ch 22. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and across. Turn. (20 dc)
- Row 2-5: Ch 2, dc in each st across. Turn. (Switch colors as desired)
- Fasten off.
Finishing
- Sew shoulders of front and back panels using mattress stitch.
- Attach sleeves, evenly matching rows.
- Sew sides and sleeve seams.
- Attach pockets to the front panels using desired alignment.
- Sew collar to neck hole.
- Attach buttons evenly along the front panel and make corresponding button loops.
