Instructions

The blanket uses a filet crochet technique. A solid square consists of 3 dc; an open square consists of 1 dc, ch 1, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc.

Foundation Chain

Ch 145.

Row 1

Dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch across (143 dc). Turn.

Filet Pattern

Rows 2-50: Follow the chart to create the elephant and hearts pattern using a combination of solid and open squares. *(Include a diagram or written chart instructions)*

Note: Read each row of the pattern from right to left.

Border

The border is worked continuously around the blanket with no need to cut yarn between rounds.

Round 1:

Ch 3, dc in each dc across, 3 dc in corner, continue down the side of the blanket with 2 dc around the post of each row, 3 dc in corner, across the bottom, dc in each ch, 3 dc in corner, 2 dc around each row end up the side, join with sl st to top of ch-3.

Round 2:

Ch 1, sc in each dc around with 3 sc in each corner, join with sl st to first sc.

Round 3:

Ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each sc around, with (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc) in each corner, join with sl st to top of ch-3.

Finishing

• Fasten off and weave in all ends.
