    • Dark Blue
    • White
  • 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook

  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sp = space
  • rep = repeat

Instructions

Round 1:

  1. Using the Light Blue yarn, make a slip knot and chain 4.
  2. Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
  3. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet).
  4. In the ring, make 2 double crochets, then chain 2 for the corner. Repeat this step three more times (you should have 4 sets of 3 double crochets and 4 chain spaces).
  5. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to finish the round.

Round 2:

  1. Change to the Turquoise color and slip stitch to the first chain 2 space.
  2. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet).
  3. In the same chain 2 space, work 2 double crochets, chain 2, and 3 double crochets. This creates your first corner.
  4. In the next chain 2 space, work 3 double crochets.
  5. Repeat for the remaining chain 2 spaces, making corners in each. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to finish the round.

Round 3:

  1. Change to the Teal color and slip stitch into the first corner.
  2. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet) and work 2 double crochets, chain 2, and 3 double crochets into the same corner.
  3. In the next three chain 1 spaces, work 3 double crochets in each.
  4. In the next corner space, work a corner as before. Repeat all the way around. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to finish the round.

Round 4:

  1. Change to the Dark Blue color and slip stitch to the first corner.
  2. Repeat the corner and side work the same way, working 3 double crochets in each chain 1 space and making corners in the corner spaces as you did before.

Final Round:

  1. Change to the White yarn and slip stitch to the first corner.
  2. Repeat the corners and side work again, finishing each side with 3 double crochets and the corners with 3 double crochets, chain 2, and 3 double crochets.
  3. After completing this round, join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to close.

Finishing

Fasten off your yarn and weave in all loose ends using a tapestry needle. Your colorful granny square is now complete!

This lovely square can be used alone or joined with more squares to create a colorful blanket, scarf, or tote bag. Enjoy your crocheting!
