Colorful Crochet Stripe Cowl Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in various colors - teal, mustard, bright pink, purple, and orange.
  • Main color yarn for base - gray or beige.
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm).
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
  • Scissors.

Gauge

12 stitches x 14 rows = 4 inches in single crochet.

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch

Instructions

Base Setup:

  1. Using the main color, ch 90. Join with a sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist the chain.
  2. Round 1: ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st to first sc. (90 sts)

Stripe Pattern:

  1. Change to your first color (teal).
  2. Round 2: ch 2 (counts as dc here and throughout), dc in each st around, join with sl st to top of ch 2. (90 sts)
  3. Round 3: Change back to the main color, ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to first sc. (90 sts)
  4. Repeat rounds 2-3, alternating colors (mustard, bright pink, purple, orange), until you have 3 stripes of each color, finishing with a sc row in the main color.

Finishing:

  1. Fasten off and weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
  2. Block gently if desired to even out the stripes.

Notes

This pattern is very flexible. Feel free to experiment with different stitch patterns or additional colors to personalize your cowl. Adjust the number of chains at the beginning to change the size.
